Lagom (pronounced LAW-gom) is a Swedish word meaning "just the right amount" or "not too much, not too little".

We are a full service dog training team specializing in detection training and pet dog training. We are also both detection K9 handlers with an operational fleet available for narcotics detection, firearms detection, and conservation work.

Our Training Plans

We offer customizable services, from puppy development to behavior modification with training plans built around you.

Because all dogs are different, we always start with a quick phone call to ensure we are the best fit before moving to an in-person consultation.

  • Consultations are a mandatory meeting to meet you and your dog(s). Depending on your needs, we will plan for a formal consultation (2hr) or a working evaluation (1hr).

  • We can evaluate and develop your current dog, or help you source and train another! We also offer consultation work if you're a handler looking for further training and education opportunities.

  • Includes 14, 1-hour sessions, spanning over two courses and a few months. Course 1 (6 weeks) builds basic puppy routines (potty, crate, play, grooming). Course 2 (8 weeks) builds basic puppy obedience (sit, down, up/off, proper greetings, intro to place/bed, intro to recall and leash manners). Package pricing available.

  • Includes 8 private one-on-one sessions outside of the home (locations vary) to teach sit, down, up, off, stay, leave-it and/or eye contact, intro to heel and intro to recall. Package pricing available.

  • Includes any undesirable behavior issues from separation anxiety to dog/human reactivity. Training plans will vary, length of time of session and session frequency can only be determined during a formal consultation.

Our Team

Heather and Kevin are the heart and soul of Lagom K9 and bring a wealth of expertise and passion to every client.

Heather's love for dogs began at birth as she spent her childhood watching their Schutzhund titled German Shepherds train and compete. Heather has worked with dogs in one way or another for decades and prides herself on constantly evolving her own skills.
Heather and her Dutch Shepherd, Nyx, are growing their career as a contraband detection team in Southern Oregon and have expanded their fleet of dogs to three. Nodens, Lagom's newest detection trainee, will also be a contraband detection dog.

Kevin has a love for all things working dogs! From tracking and detection, to hunting and protection, he puts in the work, rain or shine. Plus, his background in the veterinary field gives him a special outlook on animal health, safety and fulfillment, which carry over into his training techniques.
Kevin currently spends his time developing K9 Nimrod and preparing for certification. With their shared drive and enthusiasm for work, they are on the path to accomplishing great things.
